I have been taking Propecia for the past five years. It has been my only prescription for hair loss, but I have tried Propecia twice, once for the past six months and once again no improvement.
My hair loss is relatively minor, but I'm not sure how long I should be able to keep it up. I have tried minoxidil, and saw no improvement.
When I first started on Propecia, my doctor told me that it would make my hair thin and that it would only be about 5-10 months, but I wasn't sure what the answer was.
I went to my dermatologist and he said it would take between six months and one year, and I was still in remission.
I'm currently taking a 3-month regimen of minoxidil, but I'm not sure I have the strength to keep it up.
My hair loss is getting worse and worse and the only treatment I'm really aware of is minoxidil.
My hair looks fine. I'm not sure what's wrong with it, but I'm hoping that it works.
If you have any suggestions, I recommend you ask your dermatologist.

Hi, I've been taking Propecia for the past five years, and it hasn't worked out the first time I tried it. I'm now on 5mg of Propecia every day for 6 months. Finasteride is the generic version of Propecia® and is sold under the name Dutasteride. Finasteride is the active ingredient in the FDA-approved brand name of Propecia®, and is sold under the brand name Dutasone. This medication is only available if the patient has BPH symptoms and is prescribed in addition to finasteride for the treatment of BPH.

Missed DoseAlthough patients who take finasteride may not experience the desired symptoms, it is possible to miss doses. For example, patients who miss 1 year of finasteride may not experience the desired symptoms.
If a patient who misses the 1-year treatment period experiences any of the symptoms listed below, simply stop taking finasteride and contact a doctor right away. A doctor will do some testing to determine if the patient should continue to take finasteride and let you know if the missed dose is safe for next day.

Patients with kidney disease or those taking medications that may interact with finasteride, or those taking the medication with a known drug history of diabetes, should avoid taking this medication.
